Striped Purple Mystery Snails

I'm trying to find a good way to get pictures of the colors. I started with the purples. The picture don't really show the richness of the color.

3rd Clutch!

The Canas laid another bunch of eggs tonight. I caught her in the act this time. I was only going to hatch the first clutch, but these are out of the golder Cana so I'm hoping I'll get gold babies. I'll probably remove them tomorrow to incubate in a plastic baggie.

More Snail Eggs!

My Canas laid their first clutch for me some time last night after I went to bed. I found the eggs today. I didn't get any pictures. I removed these eggs, and the Ivory's eggs, and put them in paper towels to incubate.

My First Snail Eggs!

My Ivory Mystery Snail laid eggs tonight! She's covered in Duckweed and algae so her shell doesn't look that great. The algae is from before I got her. I bought her from Petsmart a week or so ago. Sadly, her shell was one of the better looking ones.

Canas??

I bought 8 snails today from a guy in Pearland for $30. He kept them in a pond in his yard and a couple in his aquariums. I think they are Canas, but I'm not quite sure. He said they get as big as baseballs and they voraciously eat any plants so that leads me to think that's what they are. We couldn't find any that large since it was the middle of the day and most were in the middle of the pond. He said he'll try to pick one of the huge ones out for me and give me a call. They are mostly brown with darker stripes, but one I picked out looks gold with stripes. They are all covered with algae, so it's hard to see their true coloring.
